Hope
This casting comes from the original mold used to create the Sacrifice figure in Mario Chiodo's, The Path of Thorns and Roses. Hope depicts an African-American man holding the unbloomed "Rose of Freedom" as he stands on his tiptoes to avoid the thorns of oppression beneath him. The Path of Thorns and Roses is a bronze sculpture that resides at the Contrabands and Freedmen Cemetery Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia. It was selected and commissioned by Alexandria City Council.

Mario Chiodo
Sculptor Mario Chiodo's mission is to use art as an educational medium to explore our shared history and build cross-cultural connections. Chiodo believes the quest for freedom, equality, and peace is universal, and his most recent works, "Remember Them: Champions for Humanity," which honors 25 international humanitarians, and "Unwavering Courage in the Pursuit of Freedom," a tribute to Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, extol these themes. These artworks are only the beginning of Chiodo's vision for a "Freedom March of Art," a series of monuments that will be a source of hope and inspiration across the globe. Most in stock items ship in 0 to 5 business depending upon the shipping method selected during checkout.
