National artist Dorothy Allen resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she has lived quietly since 1942. Allen is best known for her Too Blessed to be Stressed characters. Now a senior, she never looked at painting or being an artist as a career; she simply enjoys sketching and painting. All of these additives are a part of her artwork. Most days you will find her lying across her bed sketching and painting. Even at local restaurants or at church she can be seen sketching her next character, which will soon turn into a beautiful, positive humorous painting. Allen draws on past experiences, current friends, and acquaintances as models for her settings.
